This November we welcomed clients and delegates near and far to join us at conferences and trade shows from Australia to Barcelona where we showcased "SmartPark", our proven Intelligent Mobility technology that provides robust, accurate and cost-effective solution to ensure that road users can easily find unoccupied car parking spaces - reducing congestion, decreasing vehicle emissions, lowering enforcement costs and cutting driver stress.
Smart City Expo | Barcelona | 15-17 November 2016
Last week saw Smart Parking showcase our innovations and technological solutions used to build Smarter Cities at the aptly-named Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona for the fourth consecutive year.
The theme of 2016's SCEWC, was "cities for citizens", focusing on how to empower citizens in their towns through the use of sensor technology and data in order to save valuable resources and improve the quality of life. What was clear at this truly international event is that cities and municipalities from all over the world want to embrace smart city technologies.
When looking at the world’s smart cities the UK stood out as being ahead of the curve on urban mobility solutions and with this in mind Smart Parking exhibited as part of the UK Pavilion with the UK Department of International Trade.
We had enquiries from Latin America, Gibraltar, Finland, Turkey and Israel to name just a few. Much of the interest was from the cities themselves however, there was also very strong interest from some of the world’s biggest technology and telecommunications companies. Huawei, Cisco and T-Systems attended the stand and were interested to understand how “Smart Parking” could fit within their existing smart city solutions and networks.
A key differentiator is that Smart Parking offers a very attractive business case and quick return on investment compared to many smart city initiatives. Whilst many initiatives such as smart lighting produce significant savings they can be over a long period. Smart Parking returns on investment, is often measured in months, rather than years, combined with the cities ability to leverage accurate, real-time data to enable individuals to plan journeys that maximise health benefits and minimise wasted time.
Parking Australia Convention & Expo | Perth, WA | 8-10 November 2016
Parking Australia is the national body representing the interests of the parking industry in Australia. PACE 2016 the 15th Parking Australia Convention and Exhibition was held at Perth's Crown Metropole. The show featured multiple exhibitors and over 300 delegates. The days were jam packed with talented speakers including the Smart Parking sponsored keynote speaker Mr. Kieran Fitsall from Westminster City Council.
Smart Parking and 3 of our key client projects were also selected as finalists in two of the award categories Excellence in Technology for Manuka, Canberra and Mosman, Sydney and Excellent Car Park Refurbishment for Stockland Baulkham Hills. The awards dinner showcased our projects and highlighted just how sophisticated the Smart Parking technology has become to meet the needs of the ever changing parking industry and IoT with one judge commenting on Stockland's entry "This is one of the most complete and comprehensive rehabilitation of the 2016 nominations. The technology, sustainability and aesthetic features were completed superbly. Fantastic work."
Overall, PACE 2016 was a brilliant success for Smart Parking and we can’t wait to get even more involved in Parking Australia and start planning for 2017.
