Coles selects Smart Parking technology to transform parking at new supermarkets

Australian brand, Coles Supermarkets has chosen to work with Smart Parking to make parking easier and more convenient for its customers at five new supermarkets nationally.

Smart Parking (ASX:SPZ) has installed its innovative guidance technology at five new Coles supermarkets, to help direct drivers to available car parking spaces quickly and easily. The sites include:

  • Drysdale, Geelong, Victoria
  • Amaroo, Canberra, ACT
  • Aurora Village, Epping North, Victoria
  • Kedron, Brisbane, Queensland.
  • Willowdale, Leppington, NSW

The deployment of parking guidance technology has seen in-ground vehicle detection sensors inserted in more than 800 parking bays across the five sites. This allows real-time monitoring of parking space availability, including mobility bays, which is displayed on variable message signs at driver decision points, with direction indicators to get the driver there.

Coles at Amaroo and Kedron will also feature Smart Parking’s overhead guidance technology to guide drivers to available bays with clear LED indicators which light green or red, depending on whether a particular space is occupied. Blue lights also indicate mobility bays.

Smart Parking CEO Paul Gillespie said: “Car parking is a customer’s first point of contact with a retailer, so it’s important that the process is quick and convenient. With less time spent searching for a parking space, visitors have more time for everything else.

“By working with Smart Parking, Coles has the latest in car parking technology at four new supermarkets that will help deliver a better customer experience before shoppers even enter the store. We hope to work with Coles to roll it out to more stores in future.”
