Improving customer experience across multiple Wilson Parking car parks

In May 2017, Wilson Parking embarked on a mission to provide customers with a better experience when parking in their car parks.

As well as aesthetic improvements such as new lighting and freshening up of paint work at each site, Wilson Parking wanted to make it easier for their customers to both navigate the car park and efficiently find available bays to park in using a smart car park system that included digital signage.

After a private tender process, Wilson Parking NZ selected Smart Parking as their preferred technology partner.

The solution for Wilson Parking

Depending on the individual requirements of each WilsonParking off street parking site, Smart Parking deployed a range of sensing hardware such as in-ground sensors, overhead indicators and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras.

Once installed, these sensors collect information which in turn is displayed in real time on displays such as overhead guidance lighting and intuitive occupancy directional digital signage.

All of this information is communicated via our SmartCloud platform to the SmartPark dashboard, which was also integrated in with Wilson Parking’s third party applications.

This means that Wilson not only have an overview of site activity, but also insights at a granular, bay-by-bay level. Using the reports and analytics function, they have effective site management in a proactive and timely manner.

Wilson Parking felt there was an opportunity to invest in the customer experience in our car parks, and one of our objectives was to include a sensor and guidance system. The LED guidance lights add a professional touch to the presentation of the car park and assist our customers in easily finding free bays. As well as ensuring we present a professional front, the SmartCloud platform provides us with full access to the information collected by the sensors, allowing us to view real-time site activity and build our own reports. The effort that Rebecca and the Smart Parking team put in to understand our needs and provide a working solution meant that we were more than happy to expand the project to include a wider portfolio rollout, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Smart Parking and their solutions.

The roll-out continues across more Wilson Parking sites

After a well-received install at SAP Tower in Auckland, Smart Parking became a Wilson Parking preferred supplier, and we soon installed the SmartPark system in another five of Wilson’s car parks.

Three more projects are currently under way and due for completion shortly, with another five installs scheduled for 2018.

Customers visiting Wilson car parks can now enjoy not only a brighter, cleaner site, but thanks to our signage and guidance a safer, more streamlined journey to find a bay.
